Michael Workéyè trained at the prestigious Arts Educational Schools London on a DaDa scholarship, graduating with a first-class degree and delivering the student address at his ceremony. During his training, he received the Lilian Baylis Award and was shortlisted for the Spotlight Prize, for which he wrote his own monologue—securing representation with Olivia Bell Management.
Michael’s screen debut included roles in the BAFTA-winning Sitting in Limbo and opposite Ben Whishaw and Ambika Mod in BBC’s This Is Going to Hurt. In 2022, he gave a breakout performance in Beru Tessema’s House of Ife at the Bush Theatre, directed by Lynette Linton, earning nominations for both an Offie and the Stage Debut Award.
Spotted in that production by casting director Kate Rhodes James, Michael was cast as Archer in Amazon Prime’s period comedy My Lady Jane, which received critical acclaim and a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
His stage work includes Shed, the Bruntwood Award-winning play by Phoebe Eclair-Powell at the Royal Exchange, and from July 2025, he stars as Kevin in Paldem the Play by David Jonsson.
On screen, Michael recently appeared in Black Mirror (Netflix, Season 7), Disney+ thriller Playdate alongside Ambika Mod, Jim Sturgess, Denise Gough, and Holliday Grainger, and the series The Stolen Girl. He stars in Duncan Jones' upcoming motion-capture film Rogue Trooper and plays Billy Fox in the 1940s CBS drama Bookish with Mark Gatiss. He also wrapped filming The Girlfriend, opposite Robin Wright for Amazon Prime Video.
Currently, Michael is filming BBC’s Inspector Lynley as DC Tony Bekele in Dublin, and appearing in Margo’s Got Money Troubles with Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Nicole Kidman, as well as Charli XCX: The Moment.
